How belief in the reciprocity of ecosystems informs native Hawaiian student’s study of biology

As a native Hawaiian, Olivia Sagarang believes in the reciprocity of ecosystems. As a junior ecology major at SPU, she combines her passion for the Earth with her study of biology and the environment around her. She plans to go to graduate school for marine biology at the University of Hawaiʻi Mānoa and her dream job is to do research at Coconut Island, a 28-acre island in Kāne’ohe Bay off the island of Oahu in Hawaii.
